Broken Cuff links – What To Do with Them?
The dazzle of cuff links is mesmerizing for the wearer as well as the viewer. Their small size and elegant existence has enticed many. But they are very delicate jewelry items which need to be handled with soft hand to avoid causing any damage to them. Many people do break them while handling it or trying to feed them into the buttons of their cuffs. As they are quite delicate, even some extra care does not help and you are left with your broken cuff link. Now what to do next?
One way is to buy new cuff links as they are no longer very expensive and the casual cuff links are even cheaper. So this is the best option to go to market and buy a new pair instead of getting into any sort of squabbles of repairing them. But if your cuff links are very precious and expensive and you can not discard them in any way then you are in a trouble. Some cuff links, usually expensive ones, have warranty. So if the warranty of your cufflinks has not expired yet, then take a calm breath. Just go to the store and get them replaced with new-ones.
If your case does not fit into the above category, then it is best to go to a jeweler to get your cuff links repaired. If you think that nothing serious damage is done to your cuff links then you can repair them yourselves but it good to get it done by some expert. Usually cuff links are engraved with different patterns which make them harder to repair because you would never like to cause any damage to these patterns as they are the real beauty of your cuff links.
If you have got some part of your cuff link detached then you can bring it back to your cuff link by using glue. Similarly if some gem is severed from them then it can easily be brought back to its original place making it as beautiful as it was before. But this whole thing requires expertise, therefore and it is better to leave the task in the hands of jewelers. Your in-expertise can cause irreparable loss to your cuff links.
